Tai Middle ASB presents MLK assembly plans, food-recovery project and Lunar New Year event

Yoon said Tai invited the Seattle band Black Stacks to make last year’s MLK assembly “more interactive” and that the group’s performances emphasize “hope, justice for all people, and community.” He said the school’s assembly was scheduled for the afternoon following the board meeting.
Yoon also described a student Sustainability Project that collects uneaten, unopened fruit, milk and bagged snacks. ASB members check dates, wash fruit and store items in a refrigerator in the school office so students can pick up snacks during passing periods or after school. Yoon said the program was publicized in the school newsletter and on the school website.
He noted the PTSA is organizing a Lunar New Year festival with student performances and booths; event details are available through the school’s posted materials.
Ending: Yoon closed by thanking the board for supporting Tai Middle School programming and said he hopes to return to Bellevue schools in the future with his own children.
