The South Bay Water board voted to change its regular meeting day and time to the second Wednesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. and adopted Resolution 663 to amend Policy 201, the board said at its Jan. 22, 2025 meeting.
The change — proposed at agenda item 8.1 — was approved unanimously with Director Martinez Perez absent. The motion, as clarified on the record, sets the standing meeting time at 4:30 p.m. and authorizes the general manager and staff to update Policy 201 and the agency calendar to reflect Resolution 663.
Board members discussed whether to adopt 4 p.m. or 4:30 p.m. as the new start time. Several directors said a 4:30 p.m. start would be more practical for members who travel from other meetings and for staff coverage; directors also noted the board can still call a special meeting or adjust the start time for heavier agendas. General Manager Nick Quintero told the board the change originated as a request from President Castaneda.
President Castaneda voted in favor when the roll was called. The formal roll call recorded Castaneda (yes), Director Cox (yes), Director Delgado (yes) and Director Martinez (yes); Director Martinez Perez was absent. The board secretary announced the motion passed unanimously with one director absent.
The board did not adopt any additional procedural changes at the same time; members said staff may call special meetings or schedule items earlier when agendas are heavy. Resolution 663 takes effect after the standard notice and posting procedures required by the board's policies and state law.
The action was listed as agenda item 8.1.
