The St. Joseph County Board of Zoning Appeals reorganized at its Jan. 8 meeting, electing DJ as chair and Tom Byers as vice chairman by unanimous roll call.
Lance Rausch nominated DJ for chair and Tom Byers for vice chair; Dr. Lauck seconded the nominations. After asking for other nominations and receiving none, the board closed nominations and conducted a roll call. All seven members present voted in favor.
The reorganization took place at the start of the meeting before the board heard petitions for variances and other matters. DJ then called the meeting to order at 1:31 p.m. and outlined public-comment procedures and housekeeping items for in-person and remote participants.
The vote was procedural and did not include conditions or further action beyond the appointments.
The board then moved on to its agenda, beginning with public comment and petition hearings.
