The Sedro‑Woolley City Council approved a professional services agreement Jan. 22 to retain Quality Control Corporation (QCC) as the city’s SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) and wastewater treatment plant systems consultant for the next three years. Staff said the arrangement maintains an average budget of about $50,000 per year for routine maintenance and technical support.
Public Works Director Bill Bullock told the council QCC has been the city’s primary SCADA consultant for several years and will remain a key technical partner as the city moves toward a planned treatment‑plant upgrade. RH2 engineers are completing a facility plan and will design upgrades; QCC will provide input on integrating new SCADA components and, if necessary, a task order or change order will be pursued to support design coordination beyond routine maintenance.
Bullock noted the treatment plant contains aging equipment that has required recent repairs and that QCC’s work includes day‑to‑day system maintenance and emergency support. The council approved the contract by voice vote; staff said future coordination with RH2 on plant upgrades may require additional task orders depending on workload and scope.
