Representatives from the Riverton Chamber of Commerce and the Wind River Visitor Council updated the council Jan. 21 on tourism promotion and visitor‑services activity. Chamber and visitor‑council staff outlined recent investments in signage, digital destination brochures, airport messaging and cooperative promotion aimed at attracting visitors and supporting local businesses.
Chamber representatives said the visitor center is staffed weekdays year‑round (Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.) and that the TAD‑subsidized staffing program supports May–October operations. They reported distributing hundreds of promotional packages in 2024, installing new interior and exterior signage and launching a large vertically oriented electronic brochure that visitors can view on site and share by text or AirDrop. The visitor council also described a program to place 21 new promotional panels at the airport and reported digital screen play of more than 371,000 minutes (about 6,191 hours) of destination messages in the past period.
Council members recognized the high‑use numbers at the airport and the potential economic return from attracting visitors who stay additional nights. Chamber staff said 2024 digital advertising produced more than 314,000 impressions and tens of thousands of engagements and that 2025 marketing will emphasize Wyoming and nearby Rocky Mountain states.
Why it matters: Destination promotion is intended to increase overnight stays and local spending; the council heard how digital tools and airport messaging are being used to connect visitors with local events, attractions and businesses.
