Delegation approves salon alcohol permit change to allow slightly larger single-serve wine containers

The Frederick County Delegation agreed to convert a salon alcohol permit revision into a delegation bill, approving language to increase the permitted single serving from 5 ounces to just above 6 ounces so salons can serve premanufactured single-serve wine containers common in the industry.

Chair Pippe introduced the item, explaining the change was a narrow technical fix: "this was a simple fix to increase the ounce from 5 ounces to just above 6 so that our salons can provide a premanufactured little wine container that's very common in the industry, and that's literally what the bill says." Delegate Ken Kerr moved the measure be sent forward as a delegation bill; the motion was seconded and members voted in favor. The chair said the vote would be recorded in the affirmative and the item would be converted to a delegation bill and dropped.

Members did not record substantive opposition during the discussion and no amendments were adopted during the meeting. The delegation staff will prepare the bill language for formal filing and follow the usual LR-number and bill-drop procedures described by staff earlier in the session.

The decision applies only to the local delegation’s legislative recommendation; enactment would require passage by the General Assembly and any required regulatory or licensing updates by county agencies.
