Dr. Jessica Garza, a Park Hill High School alumna and performance psychologist, was inducted into the Park Hill School District Alumni Hall of Fame at a district ceremony where a video highlighted her life and work.
The induction video traced Garza’s career from local schools through collegiate athletics and advanced degrees, and the inductee gave a short speech reflecting on perseverance, family and mentoring the next generation.
The video shown at the ceremony listed Garza’s attendance at Runner, English Landing, Plaza, Congress and Park Hill High School and described early athletic achievements including gymnastics and varsity soccer. It noted academic honors and that she completed a bachelor’s degree in psychology in three years at Grand Canyon University, followed by dual master’s degrees and a PhD in performance psychology. The video said she has conducted “more than 12,000 workshops,” coached world champions and Olympic medalists, worked with military professionals and presented a TED talk with more than 1,900,000 views. It also said she co‑designed a cognitive enhancement program that saved the U.S. military $3,300,000 while improving operational readiness.
In her remarks, Dr. Jessica Garza thanked the district, her parents and her children, and reflected on resilience and choice. “Standing here tonight is more than a moment of recognition. It’s a testament to my journey defined by perseverance, self belief and countless life lessons along the way,” Garza said. She urged the audience to act on opportunities: “You have 354 days left this year to create something extraordinary. So take the pen and write the story only you can tell.”
Garza said she continues to offer workshops through her organization, Legacy Mindset, and cited ongoing community and volunteer work, including volunteering with Safe in Austin and her local church. The video and remarks also referenced that while the family now lives in Texas, they remain Kansas City Chiefs fans and that Garza has worked at Super Bowl events 54 and 57 in connection with athlete support.
The ceremony focused on celebrating Garza’s career and contributions; no board action or vote was recorded in the transcript excerpt.
