Assistant Superintendent Shannon Avison said a 23‑member calendar team (principals, union representatives, athletic directors, operations and HR staff and equity department representatives) met three times and recommended a calendar that preserves 169 student contact days and complies with the collective‑bargaining agreement provision for four professional‑development days and two workshop days (which may be used in half‑day increments as permitted by the contract).
Committee members debated the length of winter break versus holding school into the first week of June. The adopted calendar balances trimester end dates, keeps alignment with St. Cloud State University (noting that SCTCC falls the following week), and includes designated non‑student contact days, professional‑development days and workshop time for teachers. The calendar posted for families will show June 2–3 as weather makeup days if needed.
