The Board of Education approved the following action items during the meeting. - Consent Agenda (Items 5B—6G): Approved. Items included board minutes, personnel actions, purchase orders/requisitions, December payroll and January accounts payable and financial reports. (Motion and second recorded; roll-call votes recorded in meeting.)
- Iditarod Educators Conference: Approved. Two educators authorized to attend; funding adjustments noted to allow separate room accommodations.
- MOU with American Institutes for Research (AIR): Approved. Board approved memorandum of understanding with AIR (roll call recorded).
- Authorization to solicit bids: Waste and recycling services: Approved. Administration authorized to issue an RFP for district waste and recycling services.
- DCTA program, course and salary-schedule/CWC approvals: Approved. Professional Relations Committee recommendations for college-program and CWC courses were approved.
- DHS Dual-Credit MAT 150 (College Algebra): Approved. Board approved offering dual-credit MAT 150 at DeKalb High School for 2025-26.
- Construction and abatement bids: Approved. The board approved contracts and bids presented for various construction and asbestos-abatement projects, including a construction contract of $777,100 for Montgomery, Ill., construction and asbestos abatement contracts to Able Plus Service Inc. and Spectrum Environmental for several buildings (amounts recorded in meeting bid list).
- Student discipline appeal (Student No. 012,125): Approved. Board upheld the suspension.
- Mini-bus procurement: Information and RFP results presented; board gave consensus to bring back lease award for model-year 2026 Ford E350 mini-buses at the next meeting (timeline to align with leases expiring June 30).
- Summer programming (ESY, middle-school STEAM, high-school summer school): Information item; staff indicated programs will be supported with Title I and district funds where allowable and will continue partnership with NIU.
- Innovative School Summit and National Student-Support PD requests: Approved as time-sensitive items; administrators authorized to attend two free professional-development events (New York and Indianapolis) in February 2025.
- Staffing request: Increase ELDC principal position from 10- to 12-month contract: Information item; board gave consensus to bring the staffing request back for action.
