The Planning and Architecture Review Commission approved a sign exception for Stans Fit for Your Feet, allowing a second wall sign at 505 West Silver Spring Drive so the business can be seen from both the street and the adjacent parking area.
City staff member Mr. Paloni described the request, saying the property has an angled façade that faces both a parking lot and the street and that the zoning code ordinarily allows only one wall sign except for corner properties. Mr. Paloni told the commission that an essentially identical exception had been granted for neighboring properties in the Bayshore area and that the requested second sign would match previous approvals.
Commissioner Storey moved to approve the sign exception; Commissioner Fernandez seconded. The commission voted by voice and the chair announced the motion carried.
A representative of Stans was present on the call and staff indicated coordination had taken place with the business. No public objections or amendments to the request were recorded in the commission transcript. The commission’s approval allows the business to proceed with replacing and placing two wall signs at the stated address consistent with the granted exception. Any permits required for sign installation remain subject to city permitting procedures.
