Mayor Sherry Alcapello told council that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requires a community needs survey as part of the consolidated plan development for the city’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. The survey asks residents to rank categories such as housing (including major home repair and homeownership assistance), homeless services, community services, economic development, community facilities and public improvements.
Alcapello said the form is designed to be quick and will use ranking (1 to 5) so respondents can indicate priorities. She asked that residents and businesses complete the survey; paper copies were available on the sign‑in table and a QR code was provided. The mayor said the deadline to submit responses is March 7.
Council members and the mayor encouraged broad participation, saying that more responses improve planning. Janelle confirmed that the QR code links to the form and the mayor thanked staff for making the survey available.
