Lake County utilities crews worked through water-main breaks; sheriff's office construction paused for weather

Lake County utilities crews responded to multiple water-main breaks during a recent period of extreme cold and worked through the weekend to restore service, a utilities representative told the board.
The staff member said crews from both East End and West End worked around the clock and "put in about a month's worth of work" over that weekend; crews restored water service and county officials thanked them for their efforts.
County Administrator Jason Boyd reported that the Lake County Sheriff's Office construction site had experienced three weather days this week because of temperatures and soil conditions. Boyd said the construction contract includes 27 weather days and that equipment was off site because of the cold and soil impacts; work was expected to resume the following day.
Commissioners noted the difficulty of the conditions and thanked crews from multiple departments for their work maintaining water and public facilities during the cold spell.
