The acting finance director said staff discovered shortages while compiling the Montgomery County Certificate of Available Resources and provided a memo explaining the shortfalls in the meeting packet. After an initial numerical confusion, the acting finance director clarified, “It’s 150,000 for parks and 350,000 for economic development,” for a total supplemental request of $500,000.
Councilmembers voted by roll call to have legislation drafted to provide the supplemental appropriations; five members voted yes and two were excused. The motion asks staff to present formal legislation at the next meeting; the council did not adopt the appropriations during this meeting.
The finance director indicated the funds are to address year-end shortages and that a detailed memo in the packet explains the line-item adjustments. The council’s approval was to have legislation prepared for formal introduction and vote at a future meeting.
