HR update: district cites internal audit, says attrition will be first consideration if reductions are needed
Summary
District human resources staff reported on an internal audit and said attrition — resignations, retirements and terminations — will be the first consideration in any reduction-in-force process, with priority to preserve positions closest to instruction, and monthly personnel updates will continue.

At the Ferguson-Florissant School Board meeting, human resources staff presented a high-level update on personnel work following an internal audit and said any potential reductions in force would prioritize positions farthest from direct instruction and use attrition first.
Dr. Haywood told the board that after the internal audit completed Dec. 18 the HR office crosswalked internal processes through Skyward and Munis and is reviewing the organizational chart “in consideration of reduction in force.” He said the district will follow Policy 1163 and DESE guidelines and that "attrition will be the first line of consideration through the reduction of force process, which means terminations, resignations, and retirements," language he used in the presentation.
The HR presenter said priority would be placed on employees who are closest to students or adjacent to instruction and that the finance and HR departments meet weekly to coordinate recommendations for the co-acting superintendents. Dr. Haywood also said the district intends to communicate more frequently with the acting superintendents during the 2025–26 staffing and budget season.
Board members asked how often updates would be provided; the presenter and staff said monthly personnel updates to the board are planned and that the presenter is in weekly communication with the acting superintendents.
Ending: The board acknowledged the update and asked for ongoing monthly reports; no formal personnel actions were taken at the meeting.
