MORAINE, Ohio — The Committee of the Whole asked staff to prepare legislation to codify the Merit System Commission rules into Chapter 149 of the Moraine Codified Ordinances after the rules were revised in October 2024.
The clerk of council told the committee that the rules "were originally adopted in 2005 and codified in chapter 149 of the Moraine codified ordinances. The merit system commission rules were revised in October of '24 and we are requesting legislation be prepared to authorize that codification," and asked that legislation be drafted to enter the revised rules into the codified ordinances.
A roll-call vote to draft the codification legislation passed with five yes votes and two members excused. The motion requested only that staff prepare the ordinance; no final codification or adoption vote occurred at the meeting.
Clerks and legal staff will prepare the ordinance language and return it to council for formal consideration and adoption.
