Granite Falls School Board honors students and four staff with Bridge Builder awards

At its regular meeting, the Granite Falls School Board set aside part of the agenda to recognize student achievement across the district and to present four Bridge Builder awards to staff members nominated by students, families and colleagues.
The ceremony included Success in Education presenters from each school and remarks from board members and district staff. Director Ladoux said of the event, “this is by far, this is by far the favorite night,” and encouraged the audience to applaud teachers and staff. Miss Giesling introduced the student recognitions and explained that each building principal would call forward nominees and winners.
Students honored included nominees and winners from Crossroads/Open Doors, Mountain Way Elementary, Montecristo Elementary, Granite Falls Middle School and Granite Falls High School. Elementary winners highlighted in presentations included Anastasia Nichols, Logan Wallheater and Blakely Cundy (Mountain Way); Montecristo named Aileen Naranjo and other grade-level recipients; middle-school honorees included Liam Pollock and Brooklyn Mallory; high-school winners cited by Principal John Nisley included Eric Alvarado Zapata, Caitlin Luedecki (Ludecki), Samuel Classe and Lillian Hanson. Presenters described nominees’ classroom contributions, community service, leadership roles and extracurricular involvement.
District staff also read nominations for the Bridge Builder awards, which recognize certificated and classified employees who build strong relationships with students. The board announced four winners: coach Jesse Munn, teacher Shawn Bennison, staff member Stacy Bergstrom and teacher/leader Allison Scharman. In remarks introducing the awards, district staff noted there were “close to 40” nominations for the winter cycle and that nominees were submitted by students, families and colleagues.
Presenters emphasized the awards celebrate adults who provide trust, care and a sense of belonging. Comments from students and parents — included in nomination notes read aloud during the ceremony — described winners as reliable mentors who “build confidence and skills” and who create safe, supportive environments. The board paused the business agenda so students and staff could be recognized and invited the four Bridge Builder winners to pose for a group photo.
The board then moved on to the remainder of its agenda. The recognition portion of the meeting concluded before business items resumed.
