Commission delays vote on beer-and-wine license for 2 Green Street, asks for security conditions

Commissioner Jordan Johnson raised neighborhood safety concerns, citing frequent loitering and a past shooting near the location. The applicant, Jared Pedigo, said the business planned cameras and other security measures. Commissioner Johnson and other commissioners asked staff to provide the specific security conditions the commission had required for a similar store in the past — including cameras, no‑loitering signage and defined hours — so the license holder would have notice of enforceable restrictions.
Samuel Malley, senior staff attorney, advised that any enforceable restrictions must be listed explicitly in the motion, because a licensee needs specific written notice to agree to conditions the commission could later enforce. After discussing options and hearing that the applicant was willing to accept conditions, Commissioner Johnson withdrew his motion to approve and asked that the item be brought back at the next full commission meeting with the required restrictions attached to the agenda item.
The commission did not take a final vote on the license at the Jan. 23 meeting. Commissioners and staff said the department will prepare the specific restrictions and return the application to the next commission cycle for final action.
