"All of our volunteers are provided by the United Way, and the training is provided by the Internal Revenue Service. So we're all trained in official tax law," a volunteer said. A resident who used the service described it as "very convenient" and "very financially saving" and said the volunteers were "very, very pleasant and helpful."
The outreach is intended to make tax preparation more accessible to people who would otherwise pay for help or struggle to complete forms themselves. Organizers gave a web address and a phone line for more information: taxesfiledfree.org and 211.
