The Wichita Falls Independent School District Board of Trustees approved the administration’s year‑to‑date financial and investment reports covering revenue and expenditures through Nov. 30, 2024, and approved proposed budget amendments to the 2024–25 budgets.
District staff said the attached financial reports represent five months of operation (about 41.67 percent of the fiscal year). For the general fund, revenues were reported at 37.86 percent of budget this year versus 28.32 percent last year; expenditures were reported at 41.13 percent this year versus 38.32 percent last year. Staff characterized the district’s position as conservative on revenues and slightly overestimated on expenditures and said they expect to re‑run the Legislative Planning Estimate (LPE) in February to rebalance the budget and eliminate a projected food service deficit.
The budget amendments covered transfers between functions and increases/decreases required by law to the district’s legally adopted budgets. Staff noted specific items on the amendment report including capital projects described as: a playground project (amount cited in materials), a rider refresh project and architect/engineering fees; food service reflected no revenue/expenditure change in the presented amendments but staff reported an operating deficit expected to be addressed in a future cycle.
The board approved both the financial reports and the budget amendments by voice vote after a motion and second. Staff said they will continue to monitor ADA and legislative funding estimates and return with updated LPE calculations to rebalance the budget in February.
