The administration, Waco ISD administration, is gonna take forth all the recommendations and formulate a recommendation that they'll bring before the board. Then the board will have the decision to, approve it or not or ask for the questions,” a Committee member said.
Committee members said minimizing disruption to student relationships and feeder patterns was a priority. “It's important to have families together for the culture. Make sure a family gets together, from especially, like, friends, from elementary, middle, high, kinda have that boundary,” a Parent said.
Meeting participants described the committee as roughly 40 to 50 people representing multiple campuses. A Committee member summarized public-engagement plans: “We we're gonna have 2 public hearings and that is where we would love for anyone and everyone who has, thoughts on this to be able to come forth, and just let us know what your thoughts are. We we really do welcome, perspective and input, so I'm just so thankful for everyone coming and meeting and taking time out of their schedule to really, dissect the information and bring back, their thoughts.”
No formal board vote occurred at the committee meeting. The stated next steps are for WACO ISD administration to compile the committee's recommendations into a formal proposal and for the school board to consider that recommendation at a future meeting.
