VISD administrative report: $346,000 in partner contributions, staffing plan and strategic plan work underway

District administration reported several operational updates to the Victoria Independent School District board on Jan. 16, including partner contributions, staffing preparations and early work on a new strategic plan.
Administration said the district has received $346,000 from business and community partners year to date. Staff said that figure was captured in a partners list included with the administrative report and reflects coordinated fundraising and in-kind support from local organizations.
Administrators told trustees they are entering prime recruiting season and are reviewing staffing projections for the coming year to determine which positions will be filled. Cabinet members have begun working on a four-year strategic plan for 2025'2029; the plan will be reviewed with campus staff and community partners before returning to the board with proposed priorities.
The administration also said the district is preparing summer calendars (June'August) to align capacity-building for teachers and leaders so campuses can start the school year ready to support students.
Trustees used the administrative report to highlight school attendance, CTE and student recognition. Several trustees urged parents and students to maintain attendance through spring, noting that current interventions are improving low-performing campuses. Trustees also praised CTE students and staff: one trustee lifted a welding student who took third place competing against professionals, and trustees noted strong representation at FFA and agriculture events. Trustees further congratulated Child Nutrition for a Texas Department of Agriculture recognition for using local foods.
No formal action was taken on the administrative report; staff said the report and related materials will be shared with the community and that the district will continue outreach to recruit staff and finalize the strategic plan.
