Vidor ISD board adopts 2025–26 school calendar with winter break; calendar B selected

The Vidor ISD Board of Trustees voted Jan. 13 to adopt calendar B for the 2025–26 school year.
Administrators presented three calendar options; calendar B won by staff vote and was recommended by the superintendent. The chosen calendar includes a winter break in mid-December, standard federal and state holidays, and ends after Memorial Day. Calendar B provides slightly more instructional minutes (an additional 240 minutes compared with other options presented) and was described as having a larger weather-day cushion.
Trustees approved the calendar by a 7-0 vote. The board also noted that graduation will be scheduled for a Thursday night with Friday as a backup in case of inclement weather; homecoming and other event timing will follow the district’s established patterns and athletic schedules.
