The SANTA FE ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved a professional services contract not to exceed $10,000 with Armco Industries to provide engineering and structural consulting for roofing damaged during Hurricane Beryl.
District facilities staff said the expense was not budgeted and that insurance coverage for the damage is limited. Staff reported they are coordinating with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and expect reimbursements are possible but could take as long as 18 months, depending on FEMA’s process and the type of expense. The district noted it will pay upfront and seek reimbursement if FEMA criteria are met.
The district said it conducted a procurement process required by law and that the administration is bringing smaller disaster‑related expenditures to the board for transparency even when they fall under the $50,000 threshold.
Board members asked about timing and reimbursement. Facilities staff answered that debris removal categories often move faster with FEMA, while engineered repairs have a longer review and reimbursement timeline.
