Staff updated the board on several development items at the Jan. 22 meeting.
615 Innovation Way: Board members reviewed revised site plans that add refrigerated loading docks to the building’s south side. Staff said the changes are consistent with the Land Disposition Agreement (LDA) and that Dan (city reviewer) had reviewed and was fine with the plan. The authority will perform a covenant review when full building plans are submitted to the building department; the current discussion was an informational update rather than final approval.
191 Commerce Drive: Staff reported the property has sold for $380,000. The board noted the sale in passing; no additional action was recorded in the transcript.
DeWall Street master plan: The board has a final draft of the master plan under review and will send comments to consultant Stantec by the end of the week. Staff reported meetings with developers produced substantial interest and that the project is winding down toward completion.
North Downtown activation and safety: Staff and board members summarized outcomes from a Jan. 16 meeting of the TDI partnership focusing on Purchase Street and North Main. Proposed activities include outdoor concerts, coordinated restaurant events, street closures for special events, and beautification. Board members said the mayor and local business owners participated and that one-stop grant opportunities for spring were identified. Board members also raised safety concerns following recent incidents on North Main Street (including a reported stabbing several months earlier). Staff said the police department’s new neighborhood engagement team could provide walking patrols at targeted times, and the group will discuss coordination with the library, shelters and rooming houses to address where people gather.
These items were presented as updates; the board did not take formal votes on the site-plan revision, master plan final draft or North Downtown programs during the open session.
