The Fall River City Park Board of Commissioners set a February 28 deadline for leagues and regular users to submit 2025 park permit requests and approved two event permits during its Jan. 21 meeting in the City Council hearing room.
Board members said the deadline will allow staff to review applications and bring allocations to the board at the March meeting so high-demand facilities such as Brooklyn Park can be fairly assigned. The board placed the permit letter on file for use in outreach to existing leagues and organizations.
Separately, the board approved a request from the Bristol Black Collaborative to use Kennedy Park for its annual Juneteenth event on June 21, 2025. The board also approved a request from the Espero Santo School to use Travazos Park for a school fun run scheduled for May 21–22, 2025, with rain dates of June 4–5. Parks staff will inspect and clean event areas ahead of activities, and the parks department will coordinate on crowd and site maintenance.
Procedural votes to accept the Nov. 6, 2024 meeting minutes and to accept and place the permit-letter packet on file were also carried. No citizen input was recorded for these agenda items.
