"I thought about how it should be on our mind to harden that target if we're ever using that King Street closure to attract foot traffic," Benson said, adding he also wants more information on wildland fire safety and the city’s preparedness for brush and underbrush fuel near homes.
Chair Rob Wotton responded that the council had previously included a brush truck in the capital improvement plan and said the vehicle — priced in committee remarks at about $100,000 — could reduce property loss from wildfires. Wotton called preventative measures and event safety planning part of the committee’s role.
