Council approves amendment to ADA transition plan contract with King Technologies

Mount Vernon City Council on Jan. 22 authorized a contract amendment with King Technologies to update the city’s Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) transition plan. The amendment increases contract compensation to reflect 2025 consultant rates and additional project-administration hours but does not change the project scope.

The updated not-to-exceed contract amount is $58,800, staff said.
Frank (King Technologies project lead) explained that Exhibit C replaces the prior budget exhibit and that none of the task-hour estimates changed; the amendment covers hourly-rate escalation and monthly project-management hours to keep the consultant engaged during the extended schedule. "None of the hours in any of the tasks have changed. We're not changing any of the scope," project staff said.
Council member Melissa moved to authorize the mayor to execute the contract amendment; Council member Gary seconded the motion and the council approved it by voice vote.
