The City of Superior Common Council on Jan. 21 approved awarding an engineering contract to Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc. (SEH) for Phase 1 of the Blotnik Bridge sanitary sewer relocation, in the amount of $175,600.
Environmental Services staff explained the $175,600 is the total contract amount and that the city's share is approximately 10 percent (about $18,000); staff said the construction phase of the project is expected to be 90 percent funded by external sources. Councilor Robert Harrick asked whether the contract amount was the city’s responsibility; staff confirmed the city’s share pertains to design costs and that most construction funding is external.
The motion to award the contract was made by Councilor Van Sickle and seconded by Councilor Ludwig and carried by voice vote.
Next steps: Staff will proceed under the SEH contract to complete Phase 1 design; future construction contracts and exact funding allocations will return to council for approval as required.
