FAYETTE COUNTY — Following an executive session to receive legal advice, the Fayette County Commission voted to have county attorneys file a motion requesting a 60‑day continuance of a Jan. 30 hearing before the West Virginia Public Service Commission in Montgomery concerning issues affecting several public service districts.
Commissioner Ted told the meeting the hearing is scheduled for Jan. 30 at 10 a.m. and moved that county counsel file for a 60‑day continuance to allow the county time to solicit input from potentially affected parties. The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
County attorneys attended the executive session to give legal guidance; commissioners reported no decisions were made while in closed session. The continuance motion reflected counsel's recommendation and is intended to give the county time to gather additional information and stakeholder feedback prior to the administrative hearing.
Commissioners said the continuance filing will be made by county counsel in the Public Service Commission docket, and the county will notify interested parties and stakeholders about the adjusted hearing timetable once the continuance is filed.
