A county official explained the amount was adjusted to include an additional capability that will activate body cameras as officers exit their vehicles — a feature the county had identified as necessary. The full amount stated at the meeting was $209,392.65; a commissioner moved the expenditure and the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.
Commissioners also received a briefing on the opioid settlement funding stream and how some state and foundation resources have been distributed. A state senator addressed the commission and described the statewide settlement allocation framework, noting that a portion of the settlement funds are administered through a state foundation while another portion was distributed directly to counties and municipalities for mitigation and recovery efforts.
County staff said the purchase will be paid from opioid settlement proceeds and that the county also has remaining opioid‑fund balances to support related public‑safety and recovery investments.
