Finally the board appointed Rachel Rockwell to the planning commission to fill the seat vacated by Irv (resignation effective Dec. 31). Conan described Rockwell as "a long time resident and advocate for the community" who has served on an HOA and the beautification/enhancement committee and has attended planning and comp‑plan meetings. Board members discussed whether Rockwell must step down from the enhancement committee if appointed; staff and trustees clarified the enhancement committee is advisory and not a voting body, and several trustees said past volunteers have held both roles. The appointment of Rockwell passed by roll call, 5‑0.
