Board approves transfer of $285,000 state grant to Carver Price Legacy Museum

The Appomattox County Board of Supervisors authorized staff to transfer $285,000 in grant funds from the Virginia Department of Historic Resources to the Carver Price Legacy Museum, acting as the county’s funding conduit for the award.
Miss Adams, the county administrator, explained the museum had applied for the grant and the Department of Historic Resources directed the funds to the county as the local government entity on behalf of the applicant. "Upon transferring the funds from the county to Carver Price Legacy Museum, the county will have completed its obligations outlined in attached MOU," Miss Adams said.
Reverend Robert Jones moved to authorize the transfer of $285,000 from the designated Carver Price Legacy Museum revenue fund to special project funds and to submit the payment to the museum; Mister Carter seconded. The motion passed.
Board members praised the museum’s work securing the grant. The board’s action approves the fiscal transfer only; county staff said the county will not provide ongoing project administration beyond processing the grant payment under the terms of the memorandum of understanding.
