Separately the council approved two limited-duration rehiring requests under state rules allowing retired annuitants to return without a six-month break in service for special circumstances. Human Resources Director Farbod Perusman asked council to authorize rehiring Whitney Skillman to support high-profile communications projects and Diane Feinstein to assist the Transportation Division with FAST microtransit and a cashless system. Councilmembers emphasized the approvals should not become routine and asked staff to continue active recruitments for permanent replacements. Both rehiring requests passed unanimously.
Council approved these items in separate motions; all three votes were unanimous.
