Karen Pickering was re-elected chair of the Northumberland County Economic Development Commission at the commission's organizational meeting.
The commission opened nominations for chair, and a member nominated Pickering. After a second and the close of nominations, Pickering accepted and the commission voted to elect her chair. The chair then opened nominations for a co-chair; that person accepted and the commission approved the co-chair by voice vote.
The commission voted to amend the meeting agenda to move a planned discovery session to the next month. Commissioners also voted to eliminate an official secretary role for the coming year, with members noting that Robert (staff) will continue to record minutes, post materials online and solicit corrections. The commission described the secretary position as largely ceremonial and said the functional duties (note-taking, recording, posting) will continue to be handled by staff.
Votes were taken by voice; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the minutes. The actions were presented and decided during the organizational portion of the meeting.
The meeting moved on to other routine business after the officer elections and agenda changes.
