The University Place City Council opened its Jan. 21 regular meeting and unanimously approved the posted meeting agenda and the consent agenda. The mayor called for a motion to approve the agenda; a council member moved, another seconded and the council approved without objection. The consent agenda — which included receipt and filing of several commissioner recognitions — passed unanimously.
Later in the evening, Council Member Boykin moved to extend the meeting for 30 minutes so the council could finish scheduled study session business; the motion carried on voice vote with council members saying “aye.” The extension allowed presentations and a detailed study session on Pierce Transit’s Destination 2045 plan and the HB 1110 middle‑housing briefing to conclude.
These procedural votes had no substantive policy amendments tied to them; they allowed council and staff to complete multiple presentations and public outreach items on the January agenda.
