Resident urges city to install speed bumps on Davis Street after crashes

A resident told the Livingston City Council on Jan. 21 that Davis Street needs speed control measures after repeated accidents.
Mila Karen Cross told council she has ‘‘been in the process of getting hit walking across there’’ and said a fatal crash occurred at the corner described. She asked council to consider speed bumps or other traffic-calming measures on Davis Street between Foster Farms and Walnut and on adjacent stretches used by students and residents.
Council members acknowledged the concern and said staff and county contacts could be asked to explore options, including possible grants, but the council did not take action during the meeting. The comment was received during the public-comment period; state open-meeting rules were cited and staff said no action would be taken that night.
