The city plans to reconstruct Bayshore Drive later in the year from Broad Street East to Mill Street and is coordinating sidewalk installation as part of that work; staff noted the property owner has agreed to the easement.
Commission discussion clarified that council previously authorized staff to order the sidewalk construction and that the easement is required to ensure the ramp and connection meet ADA requirements; staff confirmed if the easement were not approved the city could not build an ADA-compliant ramp connecting to the Mill Street sidewalk. The commission voted to adopt the staff report findings and forward the easement for acceptance, 7-0.
Staff indicated the city attorney’s office prepared the easement documents and that the Department of Public Works will manage construction and future maintenance once the easement is recorded.
