Page County engineer reports shop work, Essex Bridge pause and office move

JD King, Page County engineer, told the Board of Supervisors that recent work has been mainly shop-based because operations remain weather-dependent. “It's a good day in Page County. It's a good day in the nation, and the engineer update came out late today, noon,” King said.
King said crews spent recent days “sorting and pitching and doing tire change and other other inside work” and that shop staff are working on sheriff's pickups. He reported a problem with a John Deere skid loader’s track frames that is causing “abnormal wear on 1 of the tracks.”
King said there has been no work at the Essex Bridge in the last couple of days but that he anticipates work on the north abutment soon if the forecast permits. He said contractors had “got blankets on there to keep the ground from freezing.”
King also reported the county engineering office recently moved. “I still have boxes piled on top of file cabinets in my office,” he said, and asked supervisors to plan a meeting in the spring to discuss “some level of parking lot there on the southwest or south by the southwest door.” He said he had turned in his county budget ahead of the deadline and would be available to meet with the board about it.
The remarks were delivered during the engineering update portion of the meeting and did not result in any formal board action.
