Commissioners revise committee assignments; change avoids family pairing on corrections advisory board

The Sherburne County Board on Jan. 21 approved changes to 2025 committee assignments that keep two related appointees from serving on the same advisory body.
County staff flagged that the Community Corrections Advisory Board roster would have included two family members. To preserve balance, Commissioner Felber agreed to step off that advisory board and instead handle fleet vehicle duties at the government center; Commissioner Hals agreed to take the Community Corrections slot. The board also agreed to shift Rum River watershed primary and secondary representation so Commissioner Schumacher will be primary and Commissioner Hals will be secondary.
Commissioners moved and seconded the amendment and approved it by voice vote. No members objected. Staff characterized the changes as a wash for committee workloads and said the county will finalize appointments and publish the updated list.
