House schedules Appropriations B hearings; chamber adjourns until 2 p.m. tomorrow

Madam Clerk told the chamber that Appropriations B Committee will continue hearings today at 3 p.m. with the Tom Bigby River Valley Water Management District and that tomorrow’s Appropriations B docket begins at 9 a.m. with the Board of Animal Health. The clerk also listed Pearl River Valley Water Supply District; registration for professional engineers and surveyors; agriculture and commerce; the board of registration for foresters; and the oil and gas board among committees scheduled to meet. Medicaid was listed to meet at 3:15 p.m. in room 113.
The schedule also included other committee notices for tomorrow: a session listed as “Judd B” at 9 a.m. in room 113, Business and Commerce at 9 a.m. in room 114, State Affairs after adjournment in room 402, Conservation 10 minutes after adjournment in room 113, Public Health at 1 p.m. in room 113, and Apportionment and Elections at 1 p.m. in room 401A. A member announced that one committee’s start time will move to 1:15 p.m. tomorrow rather than 1 p.m. The clerk said the Constitution committee would not meet after adjournment.
During the announcements period the House also observed a moment in memory of Dr. Michael Reddicks, described in the chamber as a long-term general practitioner in Jackson who died Sunday.
Later in the session a member representing Rankin moved that “the House stand adjourn until 2 PM tomorrow.” The motion passed on a voice vote; the clerk declared, “The ayes have it,” and the House adjourned until 2 p.m. the following day. The record does not include a recorded roll-call tally for the adjournment motion.
The committee notices set the schedule for a range of state oversight and regulatory hearings — including health, water districts and professional licensing — that will inform upcoming appropriations and policy decisions.
