The Lacey City Council on Jan. 21 awarded the contract to build the College Street Northeast Extension to Active Construction Inc. of Puyallup for $9,485,484.99, a bid roughly 5% under the engineer’s estimate. Council voted unanimously to approve the award.
The project will extend College Street from 8th Avenue NE to 15th Avenue NE, realign the intersection at 6th Avenue, reconstruct 6th Avenue, and perform a grind-and-overlay with a road diet (four lanes to three lanes with bike lanes) on College Street between Martin Way and 6th Avenue.
