Planning staff informed the commission Jan. 22 that City Council at its most recent meeting approved several items the commission previously reviewed.
Staff said Council conditionally rezoned 743, 755 and 765 Grove Street from R2 to RM32, clearing the way for a likely forthcoming site-plan application from the applicant (the Hagans) for a multifamily building of at least five dwelling units; staff said no application submission date was available. Staff also reported Council approved a rezoning for a parcel adjacent to 16647 Chandler from Bath Township D Development to East Lansing’s OIP (Office/Industrial Park) zone district and granted the applicant (identified in the packet as Gunthorpe Grenovid) a special-use approval to construct a fabrication shop on that property.
Finally, staff reported Council adopted an ordinance modifying historic-preservation requirements for the Historic District Commission; staff said the commission would likely welcome the amendments and that they are the result of a long effort.
Staff also noted scheduling: there will not be a Feb. 12 Planning Commission meeting and the Feb. 26 meeting will proceed if there is business; staff said commissioners will be notified if dates change.
