At its Jan. 21 meeting, the Fluvanna County Board of Zoning Appeals elected officers for 2025, adopted its 2025 bylaws and amended the meeting calendar to move the November meeting to Nov. 25.
Mr. Morris was nominated from the floor and confirmed as chair by voice vote. A vice-chair nomination was also made and approved; the transcript does not record full names for the vice-chair nominee. Margie was nominated and approved as secretary.
The board adopted a meeting schedule for 2025 with an amended November date to avoid Veterans Day; staff said the planning commission meets Nov. 18, so the BZA will meet Nov. 25. A motion to adopt the schedule as amended carried by voice vote.
The board also voted to adopt the 2025 bylaws as presented and agreed the bylaws would be updated at the next meeting to incorporate specific language the county is preparing. Staff advised the board that a bylaw amendment will be drafted to allow caregivers of persons with disabilities to participate remotely and still count toward quorum; staff said that language would mirror similar language prepared for the board of supervisors and promised to place the amendment on the BZA agenda at the next meeting.
The officer elections and bylaw adoption were taken by voice votes and recorded as passing in the meeting transcript. The meeting minutes and the updated bylaws will reflect the actions taken.
