Council accepts public improvements for two Guthrie subdivisions

Guthrie City Council on Jan. 21 accepted completed public improvements and rights-of-way for two residential subdivisions: Guthrie Farms Subdivision Phase 2 and Hillcrest Farms Subdivision.
Dan reported Guthrie Farms Phase 2, located off South Pine near University Avenue, consists of 96 lots. The council had approved the final plat for Phase 2 last April, and staff confirmed water, sewer and street work have been completed and inspected. "The approval would accept all the improvements and also the rights of way, which will become public streets," Dan said. Staff noted Phase 2 represents roughly half of the developments total lots (the project total was described as near 388 lots across phases) and that future phases may create additional access.
The council also accepted improvements for Hillcrest Farms, a 60-lot subdivision near North Pine and Hillcrest Avenue. City staff said the paving, water and sewer work for Hillcrest Farms had been completed and inspected and that acceptance would place the public rights-of-way under city ownership.
Both acceptance motions passed unanimously. The city will maintain the accepted rights-of-way and public infrastructure going forward.
Ending: Acceptance allows the city to assume maintenance responsibilities for the streets and utilities within the approved areas and enables developers to move forward with subsequent development steps.
