Mayor Pro Tem Barr opened the council meeting Tuesday by announcing the council would appoint a replacement for the at-large seat vacated by Gretchen Bridal, whose resignation became effective Jan. 7.
After interviews with seven finalists from a pool of 21 applicants, the council moved and seconded a motion to appoint Joel Zink to fill the remainder of Bridal’s term, which expires in November 2025. The motion carried, with the clerk announcing, “The vote is 5 in favor. The motion carries.”
Joel Zink took the oath of office administered by the city clerk as required by the Littleton city charter. At the dais, Zink thanked the council and members of the public: “I just wanna take an opportunity to thank you all on the council for this opportunity to serve my community… I really look forward to working with those people in the future.” He said his contact information will be posted on the City of Littleton website.
Mayor Pro Tem Barr and several council members praised the applicant pool and the council’s interview process. Barr said staff and the council were impressed by the candidates’ qualifications and encouraged those who applied to continue seeking public service opportunities.
The council then invited Zink to take his place on the dais for a second roll call and brief ceremonial photo opportunity.
Votes at a glance: the appointment motion carried, recorded as five votes in favor; mover and seconder were recorded in the meeting transcript but not identified by name in the public audio.
The appointment fills the at-large seat through November 2025; no further formal actions related to the vacancy were taken at the meeting.
