Rowan County Board of Education approves officers, insurance renewal, audit contract, calendar and other business

The Rowan County Board of Education held a special called meeting on Jan. 21, 2025, during which the board swore in new members, elected officers, approved routine business and voted to go into closed session to discuss real property, potential litigation and personnel matters.

At the start of the meeting a judge administered the oath of office. The board then conducted officer elections: a nomination for board chair for “Jeff” carried and the chair took over the meeting; Brenda was elected vice chair; the superintendent (name not specified in the transcript) was appointed board secretary; and the board’s finance officer, Lauren Littleton, was appointed board treasurer.

The board established regular meeting dates as the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the board office, with special-called meetings used when necessary.
