Dana Seager, the library manager, told the council on Jan. 21 that the Walnut Grove library has added a seed library, launched a monthly wellness program and is planning an expanded summer events schedule.
Seager said the library will provide free seasonal seed packets to patrons at each visit through the seed library, and a new monthly wellness series will continue with a February presentation on managing stress and emotional resilience. She listed planned summer performers and events, including a magic show, a reptile show, a flamenco dancer and interactive music programs under a "Color of Your World" art theme.
Seager also said the library is still recruiting for two positions: a custodian/cleaner and a substitute staffer. She reported that a possible cleaner is under consideration and that having a dedicated cleaner would reduce staff burden.
The council and attendees thanked library staff for programming and outreach; no formal council action on library staffing or funding was recorded at the meeting.
