Everett police say suspect identified and wanted in attack on 13‑year‑old, search ongoing

The Police Chief told the Everett City Council on Jan. 22 that investigators have identified a suspect and obtained a warrant in the attack on a 13‑year‑old student on Jan. 16, and that police have redeployed resources across the city to locate the person.
“Once we have information such as the picture, we put it out there…we were able to identify the suspect and currently he has a warrant for his arrest,” the Police Chief said. “We reassign people to different duties…we sent a couple of our proactive teams to the south end of Everett, where we thought he might be located.”
The chief said the department is coordinating with Snohomish County and has not yet located the suspect. The mayor noted school resource officers remain stationed in schools and thanked the chief and officers for their work.
The remarks came after the council opened the meeting and before other agenda items; no formal action was taken by council on the update. The chief did not provide a suspect name or additional identifying details in the public briefing.
