North Platte swears in new firefighter and promotes officer to captain

Colton Chandler took the oath to serve “as a firefighter for the city of North Platte, Nebraska” and pledged to “serve the people of North Platte with honor, courage, and integrity.” Justin Thompson was sworn in as a captain for the North Platte Fire Department and pledged to “guide and support my team with respect, integrity, and dedication.”
The mayor administered both oaths during the meeting’s ceremonial portion. There were no council votes associated with the swearing-in or promotion reported in the meeting transcript.
City staff indicated the department will proceed with customary badge and photo recognition following the oaths.
