Mary Hinkleman, executive director of the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce and Visit BG Ohio, presented the organization’s annual report to City Council and summarized the group’s tourism marketing and event support work over the past year.
"Visit BG put extensive efforts into promoting Bowling Green this year ... through unique experiences, and offering exceptional hospitality to ensure visitors keep returning," Hinkleman said. She told council Visit BG supports events through tourism grants and sponsorships and connects visiting organizations to local partners.
Hinkleman outlined channels used for marketing—print, digital, social media and search-engine marketing—and said the organization is performing well in Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati and has grown reach into the Detroit and Fort Wayne markets. She said staff represented Bowling Green at sports- and bridal-industry conferences, and at a Portland, Oregon sports destination conference aimed at attracting larger sporting events.
Hinkleman highlighted the second BG Magazine publication, credited staff and interns for production work, and said Visit BG met with a new publisher and is already planning the 2026 edition. She said the organization plans to revamp its website to make it more user-friendly and asked council members to review the annual report provided to them.
Hinkleman named Taylor Ramos as Visit BG’s marketing lead and noted interns assisted with the year’s work. She provided an economic-impact summary in the report and clarified that figures in the report represented direct economic impact only.
